My 4th diorama from 2022, this time a fantasy setting. This one depicts Bilbo, Gandalf and the 13 dwarves from JRR Tolkien's book ''The Hobbit'' from 1937.
The miniatures and different parts are from Oathmark, Forgotten World, Frostgrave and Wargames Atlantic. The terrain was done by ''CriticalTerrain'' from www.etsy.com. I did lots of sculpting of capes with green stuff and changing of bits and pieces to get the correct look.
When designing the dwarves I took my inspiration mainly from a comic-book that I read when I was younger, but also from the Peter Jackson movies and the book-description of the characters by Tolkien himself.
Colour of the hoods:
Thorin – Light Blue
Kili & Fili – Blue
Balin & Dwalin – Red & Dark Green
Oin & Gloin – Brown & White
Dori, Nori & Ori – 2 Purple & 1 Grey
Bifur, Bofur & Bombur – 2 Yellow & 1 Light Green
Trivia:
The three elven swords of Bilbo, Gandalf and Thorin were found in a troll cave. Their names are Sting, Glamdring and Orcrist.
Kili & Fili are the nephews of Thorin.
Gloin is the father of Gimli.
Bifur is the cousin of Bofur and Bombur.
Balin, Oin & Ori among other dwarves later tried to reclaim Moria, but the mission failed. Ori can be seen holding his book beside the tomb of Balin. Oin got killed by the watcher in the water.
