1492 - Columbus arrives in the New World (28mm Diorama)

My first diorama, created in the summer of 2020. It depicts the landing of Columbus and his Spanish crew, stepping onto the beach of ''San Salvador'' in the Caribbean in 1492.

I mainly used Perry Miniatures ''Wars of the Roses'' and late medieval miniatures, but also some bits and pieces from Warlord Games plastic ''Landsknecht'' boxes to get the correct look I was after. Some ''green stuff'' sculpting for the beards was done aswell.

The water was created with vallejo water texture and foam effect.

I hope I managed to capture the true look and atmosphere of this epic and world-changing event in history!

In the end are some excellent and inspirational pictures from JL Beuzon, Peter Dennis, Augusto Ferrer Dalmau, Marek Szyszko, Jackson Walker and Carlos Parrilla Penagos.

Christopher Columbus, captain of the carrack ''Santa Maria''.

Martín Alonso Pinzón, captain of the caravel ''Pinta''.

Although there were two stewards and one secretary, no priests were on board the three ships, as far as I know. But I thought this figure would fit the scene well.

Diego de Arana, master-at-arms.

Vicente Yáñez Pinzón to the left, captain of the caravel ''Niña''.
